Ground Breaks on New Track Monday Night
The new track at the high school is expected to be ready for the fall sports season at the school.

The track at the high school will be in much better shape come September
The groundbreaking ceremony for the new track at Marblehead High School is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday night at Marblehead High School.
In the fall of 2014, the Marblehead All Sports Foundation began an aggressive fundraising campaign to build a new track in Marblehead. The existing track at Hopkins Field at the high school is in a serious state of disrepair.

The goal of the foundation was to raise money and get work on the track underway this summer so it would be ready for the 2016 high school sports season, according to the foundation officials.
Earlier this month, the foundation presented a check for $536,700 to selectmen to help make that goal a reality.
