High School Football Predictions: Playoff Edition

For many high school teams, it's a spooky time of year.

Scary clowns, scarier politicians, and candy, lots of it. It must be time for the Halloween edition of the high school football picks.

Marblehead over Wayland — What happens when one of the best defenses in the state (Marblehead allows just 9.0 ppg) meets one of the worse offenses (Wayland scores 13.9 ppg)? Boo Millett and the Magician defense will hand Wayland its third shutout of the year.

Ipswitch over Greater Lawrence — A word of warning to Ipswitch defenders: the only thing worse than seeing the back of Ojany Belliard's uniform is trick-or-treating at a house that gives out anything other than Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.

Westford over Peabody — After the big win over Peabody, how will the Ghosts drive home? In a boo-ick of course.

Salem over Winchester — Why was Salem the first team in the state to have numbers on their uniforms? Because it was important to tell which witch was which.

Hull over Southeastern — How do Pirate players communicate? With an Aye phone.

Dartmouth over Walpole — On a serious note, between the Indians, Duxbury, Billerica and Tewksbury, is there any doubt the best competition in the state this fall is in Division 2.

East Bridgewater over Fairhaven — There's nothing scary about these 2-5 Blue Devils. After an easy win go celebrate with a few Halloween goodies at Skinner's Sugar House.

Lexington over Andover — The Golden Warriors scored 88 points in an eight-OT win over Lowell back in 2010. They'll need that many points again if they're going to beat Lexington.

Newton North 6, Brockton 0 — If you need balance in your football life, watch Lexington-Andover on Friday, then head to Newton for the Tigers game against Brockton. Two David Guekguezian field goals the difference here.

Bridgewater-Raynham over Natick — The Trojans have losses to Dartmouth, SJ Prep, and Duxbury. Compared to those three, beating Natick will be a breeze. And a note to B-R fans. Make sure and stop at Lolli & Pops for milk chocolate champagne truffles. They're not for the kids Monday — give them the cheap stuff. The truffles are all yours.

Last week, 5-5; season 35-29.
