Junior Sailors Ready to Race
Historic Marblehead Junior Race Week runs Monday through Wednesday.

This week will see some of the finest young sailors in New England for the annual Marblehead Junior Race Week.
Events take place from Monday through Wednesday, and 230 boats with 313 sailors form throughout New England, all under the age of 18, will be racing.

Race week takes place out of the Pleon Yacht Club, which is the first junior yacht club in the United States.
Sailors from ages 8 to 18 will race in Optimists, Lasers, and 420s off the Marblehead coastline.

The Marblehead Lighthouse and Chandler Hovey Park will provide some great viewing of the racing, according to race officials. There will also be opportunities to see the boats prepare to leave from the Pleon Yacht Club on Monday morning.
Racing starts in the harbor on Monday at noon and continues until about 4 p.m.
Racing starts from the harbor at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday and runs until about 3:30 p.m.
The final day of racing is Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., with awards in the tent after the racing and boat hauling is completed.
