Kindergarten Registration and Orientation Dates Set

MARBLEHEAD, MA - The Marblehead school department has released the dates for kindergarten orientation and registration for the 2016-17 school year.

Kindergarten Orientation (for parents only)

Monday, January 25th 2016

Lower Bell School, Baldwin Road

6:00 - 7:00pm

The Marblehead Public Schools encourage the parents of all children who will be turning five on or before August 31, 2016 to register for Kindergarten.

Kindergarten Registration (by appointment, M-Th)

Central Administration, 9 Widger Road

February 1 - 29, 2016 All registrations will take place at Central Administration, 9 Widger Road

(Packets can be picked up at Orientation Night, at Central Administration,9 Widger Rd, or online from our web site. Packet must be complete in order to register)

In addition to the Kindergarten Orientation Night, Registration and Screening, it is the responsibility of the Marblehead Public Schools to identify any child who is a resident of Marblehead who may have a disability, regardless of the severity of the disability. It is also the responsibility of Marblehead Public Schools to evaluate those students to determine if they are eligible for special education or related services under IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) or 603 CMR 28 (Massachusetts Special Education Regulations).

The Marblehead school district is committed to identifying children before their third birthday in order to provide early intervention services for three and four year-olds. If you have questions or concerns regarding your child’s development and would like to have him/her screened, please call Susan Gibbons at 781-639-3190 x 1002 to set up an appointment.

If you suspect that your child, at any age, may need an evaluation to determine eligibility for special education services, you may request an evaluation, at no cost, at your child’s school.
