Latest Winter Blast Cancels Marblehead After School Activities
The district said late Wednesday morning that afternoon sports and other extracurricular activities are off for the day.

MARBLEHEAD, MA — The latest expected blast of winter precipitation caused the cancellation of after-school activities in Marblehead on Wednesday.
The district said early in the afternoon that all sports and other after-school extracurricular activities and programs were canceled for the day.
The YMCA aftercare program was to remain open in town.

This is the second time in three days that winter weather has wiped out games and other events.
As was the case on Monday when the North Shore received up to 6.5 inches of snow starting right about the time that schools got out, the trickiest travel conditions were expected to be late afternoon into the early evening.

According to the National Weather Service, the North Shore will receive about an inch of snow at the outset of the storm before the precipitation changes to heavy rain overnight.

The good news is that the rest of the week is expected to be clear sailing with conditions drying out early on Thursday and staying mostly rain- and snow-free through the end of the weekend with temperatures moderating into the 40s both Saturday and Sunday.
