Leigh Barrett to headline MLT's Gala at Abbot Hall Sat., Sept. 22

Leigh Barrett to lead a star-studded line-up of talent for Marblehead Little Theatre's Gala Concert on Sept. 22. Tickets on sale Aug. 22.

Award-winning Leigh Barrett, one of Boston’s most beloved singing and acting talents, will headline Marblehead Little Theatre’s Gala Concert, MLT to Broadway: A Night With The Stars, at Abbot Hall on Saturday, September 22, featuring a broad selection of Broadway’s greatest showstoppers.

Joining Barrett for this one-night-only gala concert will be Marblehead-native Christy Morton, who has starred in An American in Paris, The Phantom of the Opera, The Adams Family, Cinderella, and Doctor Doolittle on Broadway and with national touring companies.

Actor and entertainer Erik Rodenhiser will be the evening’s master of ceremonies supported by a star-studded line-up of MLT talent accompanied by a full orchestra.

Barrett is the proud recipient of the 2018 Elliot Norton Prize for Sustained Excellence and the 2018 Norton Award for Outstanding Actress in Gypsy and Souvenir. She also has the Elliot Norton Award for 2004 and 2008 and two IRNEs.

Although she has her degree from Baldwin Wallace College in Voice Performance, she has found her home on the musical theatre stage. When not onstage, Barrett is an independent vocal/acting coach in Reading, Massachusetts.

“With so much vocal and instrumental talent coming together for this one-night event, the MLT Gala promises to be a spectacular and memorable celebration of outstanding Broadway music,” Steve Black, producer and director, said.

Proceeds from this one-night-only gala concert will help sustain MLT’s live theater performances and educational programs.

Started in 1955 by members of the Marblehead Woman’s Club, the award-winning Marblehead Little Theatre is one of the oldest community theatre groups in New England, having consistently presented live-theater productions for over six decades.

The evening will include a dessert reception beginning at 7 p.m., the concert at 8 p.m., and a silent auction.

Gala tickets go on sale August 22at mltlive.org. Reserved main floor table seat tickets are $65; balcony general seating tickets are $35.
