The following is a Letter To Patch submitted by Marblehead resident Mary Chalifour:

MARBLEHEAD, MA — I am writing this letter because I have lived and worked in this district for over 40 years, and I still am in love with it, so our elected representative is critical to me. I believe we have good candidates but Polly Titcomb is the one candidate who rises above the others because of her lifelong commitment to making the world a better place for all of us.

As a family and child welfare attorney, she has spent her life caring for and understanding the needs of the most vulnerable. She has shown her commitment to serving our community and her knowledge of both the issues that impact Lynn, Marblehead, and Swampscott and how to implement solutions through her position on the Swampscott Select Board.

From my experience as a teacher of students with special needs, I believe Polly is the only candidate who brings the necessary urgency to serving adults and children with disabilities. Disability, temporary or permanent, touches all of our lives. I believe Polly has and will work tirelessly for equal opportunities for all people, including those marginalized, veterans, the elderly, and those with mental health issues. Polly's advocacy will improve the quality of life for everyone.

Polly has a vision and a road map to a more just and equitable district for us all. Let me finish by quoting her mission statement: "Together, we can advocate for a greener future, more resilient coastlines, increased services to the most vulnerable of our population, and greater equity and inclusion for every member of our district and beyond."
