Local residents Dr. John and Joy Fisher to participate in North Shore Cancer WALK
25th Anniversary of the North Shore Cancer WALK

Joy Fisher: WALK Chairperson 1998, 1999
The North Shore Cancer WALK, which I have been involved with since the inception, has evolved so much. From kids to the elderly, the WALK brings the whole community together in such a wonderful way. I have been honored to serve in a few volunteer roles with the North Shore Cancer Center. I was on the Foundation Board, served as WALK Chairperson for two years and currently serve on the Development Committee. My favorite volunteer position hands down, however, is working at the registration table at the WALK. My husband, Dr. John Fisher, and I have been at the table together for nearly 25 years. Last year, he started an oral cancer screening tent at the WALK to help promote awareness about mouth cancers.
We look forward to the 25th anniversary of the WALK this year. We love being able to greet all the teams and interact with the WALK participants. It brings so much happiness to the day. I enjoy lending a kind word to those going through treatment and a hug for those that have lost a loved one to cancer. The day is filled with so many emotions, but is also so uplifting. My daughters have also participated with me so that makes it extra special.
