Local storyteller Judith Black premiers an original tale based on Marblehead history

Marblehead resident, Judith Black, will tell a Marblehead story to mark UUCM's 300th anniversary

One of America’s foremost storytellers, Judith Black will be premiering a new work, titled An Antidote to Despair: 300 Years of Marblehead History, at the Unitarian Universalist Church on Wednesday, April 13 at 7:00 p.m. In this story a 17-year old girl, worried about our environmental crisis, blames older generations for today’s woes and it is to her mother and an old Marblehead fisherman to explain our past.

Judith Black, a resident of Marblehead, has been featured on stages from the Montreal Comedy Festival to The Smithsonian Institution and the National Storytelling Festival. She is the winner of the Oracle Award, storytelling’s most coveted laurel, and has performed worldwide, including in South Africa, Israel, Sweden, France and China. The story she will be telling on April 13th is an original story commissioned by the UU Church in honor of its 300th anniversary. It is based on events that took place in Marblehead.

The UU Church of Marblehead is located at 28 Mugford Street, Marblehead. A donation of $20 is suggested for the show. For more information, consult the website at www.uumarblehead.org or call 781 631-1215.
