Man Claims to Be with Police, Requests Photos of Children

Plus, a drunk woman picked up at Tower School and a strange book donated in the book dumpster.

At 8:50 a.m., an employee at a Atlantic Avenue salon told police that a man had come into the business with a folder and a box. He claimed to be working with local police and wanted photos of all the employees’ children, so that police would have the images should there be a kidnapping. The employee said she was alone with a client at the time and told the man to leave the materials, but did not give him information. When he returned the next day to pick up the items, the employee told him that she’d thrown out the items and he became angry.

At 10:06 a.m., a man reported that about $150-worth of fishing equipment was missing from his basement. He said he’d had about four different workman in recently, but didn’t want to falsely accuse any of them.

At 11:26 a.m., a caller reported that a suspicious book had been turned in at the Bookster (book dumpster) at the charger school. The caller said it was a small book, about the size of a passport, and appeared to have notes in it from someone training to be a TSA agent. Police took possession of the book.

At 12:20 p.m., a rusted gun was found in the metal bin on Green Street.

At 2:54 p.m., a caller reported that a neighbor was using two paint cans to block off a parking space. The neighbor was spoken with and the cans were removed.

At 6:48 p.m., a caller reported that a woman who appeared to be drunk was walking on the tracks. Police located a woman matching the description in the Tower School parking lot. The 48-year-old woman from Salem was placed in protective custody.
