Marblehead Arts November/December Lineup

Opening Reception, Nordia Kay dedication and Open Mic...

The Marblehead Arts Association’s (MAA) Winter Members’ Exhibit’s Opening Reception will be held, Sunday, November 9th, from 2-4 PM. During the reception the MAA will proudly unveil and dedicate a new area displaying the work of renowned Marblehead watercolorist, Nordia Kay. Generously donated by the Kay family, “Nordia’s Nook” will contain both framed and unframed watercolors by one of Marblehead’s most sought-after artist who passed away in January 2014. Artwork will rotate every six weeks and framed works will be available for purchase through a silent auction program. Proceeds of the auctions will be directed to support the art treasures, art education and art programming efforts of the MAA. (Artwork pictured: ”Summer Blossoms”, Watercolor, by Nordia Kay).

Community Open Mic: Sunday, November 9th:, from 6-9 PM. Doors open at 5:30 and sign-up begins at 5:30 PM, performances begin at 6 PM. The featured performers will be Maeve and Annie. Cost is $5 at the door, one or two songs/pieces, 10 minutes per act maximum. A flu PA set-up and a piano are available- just bring your instrument.

On December 1st, five Marblehead garden clubs will converge on the King Hooper Mansion to beautify the home of the MAA for the holiday season. As has been the tradition for many years, a decorating team from each garden club will take a specific room in the Mansion and will do their magic using this year’s theme of Fire and Ice. The decorations will remain up through Christmas.
