MARBLEHEAD, MA — The following are excerpts from the Marblehead Police log for Thursday, Aug. 30.

7:52 a.m. - Mother upset about the traffic in general in the area of the high school. She formerly lived in a big city and is certain there is a traffic solution.

9:03 a.m. - Woman said she and a friend went to dinner Wednesday night and the bill was $51. She said she tried to pay and the restaurant ran her card three times, depleting her account and freezing the card.

12:27 p.m. - Lost engagement ring, possibly in Crocker Park. Whole setting, halo, stone, etc.

1:48 p.m. - Woman who stopped in Village Pharmacy shortly had bike stolen. All red mountain bike.

2:20 p.m. - Swampscott Police reported hit and run at Whole Foods. When a person confronted the driver about striking the parked car, they said a young male operator threw up his hands and drove off.

5:39 pm. - Bike stolen while person was at work. Gray frame, clear/yellow handlebars, mountain bike style.

8:35 p.m. - Someone called to inquire if we had seen the whales off shore. He told a story about seeing an episode of Star Trek with whales in it and said the message from that episode was that we should not go into outer space. Call ended with him wishing everyone a good God night.

9:33 p.m. - Someone said he and his friends were playing basketball at the courts when a "group of kids started to throw eggs" at them and "offer to vape" with them.
