Marblehead Embarks On First-Ever Town Charter Process

Residents are sought for a committee to help oversee the creation of the first town charter in Marblehead's history.

MARBLEHEAD, MA — Marblehead volunteers are sought to help create the first town charter in community history.

Residents willing to participate in the approximately year-long process are encouraged to send a letter of interest and resume to the Select Board for the committee that will study the town's existing government structure, conduct analysis and seek public input and engagement.

The Select Board in recent months began the process of embarking on creating a town charter to help streamline government services, create a better-defined chain of command and oversight, and, ultimately, look for efficiencies and ways to save funds as the town faces increasing budget constraints.
