The Winter Film Festival is coming in February.

The following is a press release from the Marblehead Festival of Arts

The Marblehead Festival of Arts announces the Winter Film Festival to be held at the Abbot Public Library on Wednesday, Feb. 18, from 7 p.m. 9 p.m. in the Carten Gallery. Selected short films originate from England, Australia, Spain and include talent from Boston and North Shore areas. Viewers will see a mix of comedy, drama, documentaries and first person stories as well as animation and music videos.

“The goal of the Winter Film Festival is to show viewers the creativity and innovation available beyond the commercial film,” Film Festival Co-Chair Mike Evers explained, “The short film format shows how filmmakers can display their art in as little as two minutes or create a story in 15. Viewers will experience the emotions, visual depth and great stories that come from these short films.”

“The Future” and “Intuition” explore relationships from very different and personal perspectives. Several films look at individual stories of trauma, tragedy and triumph. The Festival organizers also bring a number of films that have received popular acclaim at other regional film festivals. The film “Solo Piano NYC” is set on a New York City street and chronicles passers-by as they respond to a lone piano.

The audience will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite film. Several film makers have been invited to attend for audience discussion and questions. Admission is free. For additional information please visit www.MarbleheadFestival.org.
