Marblehead Festival Of Arts Seeks North Shore Creative Entries

The 2022 Marblehead Festival of Arts will run from July 1 through July 4.

MARBLEHEAD, MA — The Marblehead Festival of Arts is returning for 2022 and needs the help 0f North Shore creatives to ensure it is a success.

Organizers are accepting entries for this year's festival from artists who live, work or belong to an art association in Essex County. The categories are painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, photography, mixed media, crafts and digital art.

Artists can drop off the work or works on June 22nd or June 23. The juries will finish their judging by June 25 and pieces not accepted for the festival can be picked up on June 29.

Other events and categories are Youth and Students (non-juried); Senior Art (non-juried). Both of these divisions are restricted to one entry. On June 25, plein air painters are invited to participate in Painting the Town. Plein air painters will meet on June 25 at 9 a.m. for breakfast where they will select the sites to paint. Works must be framed and ready for judging by the next day.

There are also Youth (pre-school through Grade 4) and Student (Grades 5 through 12) divisions open to students (no matter where they live) attending public, private, or art studio classes in Marblehead. Their work must be submitted through their teachers. It is also open to Marblehead
residents who attend school or art studio classes elsewhere. They must drop off their own entries.

Senior Art is for persons 65 and up. The mediums are the same as those for the juried works. And, like the other divisions, there will be awards. All artwork, in every category, must be ready to display.

The deadline for online registration is June 19 at 10 p.m. EDT. Those needing assistance with the online registration procedure can email exhibits@marbleheadfestival.org for help.

The entry fee is $15.00 per piece. There is no entry fee for Youth and Student Art. There is a fee for Senior Art and Painting the Town.
