Marblehead Fireworks Committee Announces Details of July 4 Celebration
Marblehead's July 4 festivities are among the best in the country, according to a noted lifestyle magazine.

With July 4 just around the corner, it’s good to know that you only have to travel around the corner to experience a top ranked spot in the country to celebrate the patriotic holiday.
Marblehead’s July 4 festivities are noted along with those in San Francisco, Honolulu, Chicago, Seattle and several other cities as the ”Top Spots to Celebrate the Fourth,” according to Coastal Living.
On Saturday, July 4, the Harbor Illumination, in which red flares are lit all along the banks for the harbor, will take place at 8:45 p.m. The fireworks display will then begin at about 9:05 p.m., according to an announcement from the Marblehead Fireworks and Harbor Illumination Committee.

Last year’s fireworks display was canceled due to unsafe water conditions for the barge from which the fireworks are launched. Because of that cancellation, the committee campaigned for additional private funding this year in order to create and larger-than-typical display.
Marblehead’s July 4 celebration is entirely privately funded, according to the committee. Individuals and businesses contribute to make the festivities possible.

Ideal viewing for the fireworks display is possible from the parks at Fort Sewall, Chandler Hovey Park and Crocker Park, as well as for boaters and yacht club members at the five clubs that are located around the harbor. Several private residences along the harbor and Marblehead Neck also have front-row seats.
The committee is advising the public to expect a very busy and crowded day and to plan accordingly. A rain date has been scheduled for July 5.
