Marblehead Football Cheerleaders Reach New Level of Success
Marblehead High School varsity football cheerleaders captured the Northeastern Conference title and second place at both the Regional and State competitions.

The 2010 season saw quite a bit of change for the Marblehead High School football cheering program. The varsity squad picked up three freshmen, and a handful of seniors, meaning head coach Terrie Cook had to help form this new group into the talented, clean, winning team that Marblehead is known for.
Cook had to overcome another hurdle when she learned the brother of one of her senior cheerleaders wanted to be on the team. For the first time in MHS cheering history, the squad would compete in the co-ed division, which is comprised of the best teams in the state.
It took a lot of hard work from the coach, captains, and seniors to whip the newly-co-ed team into shape, she said.

With the support of the MHS football team, friends and family, the Marblehead cheerleaders showed off their hard work and won their division at the Northeast Conference competition held at Salem High School. In addition, they scored higher than the 11 other teams in the conference, earning them the title of grand champion while breaking a school record with a score of 89.
Their success did not stop there, with the team placing second in both the State and Regional competitions. MHS cheerleader, Lauren Cohen was "stoked" to be recognized as the second best co-ed cheer squad in the state, especially after overcoming so much change this season. she said.

Although the team loses 9 seniors, Cook hopes the leadership skills, dedication and strong work ethic their upper classmen instilled in their younger teammates will inspire many more victories for Marblehead cheering in the future.
