Marblehead Fourth Of July Street Closures, Parking Restrictions
Roads will be closed and there will be no parking on several streets amid a day of festivities and fireworks around town.
MARBLEHEAD, MA — A day full of Fourth of July festivities and fireworks will require the closing of some roads, and restricted parking on others, as approved by the Select Board during its Wednesday night meeting.
"Our goal is to minimizing the effects on residents while providing a safe environment for all in attendance," Marblehead Police Chief Dennis King said.
For the Horribles Parade beginning in the morning, Pleasant Street will be closed between Spring Street and Washington Street starting at 9 a.m. Spring Street will become a one-way between Pleasant Street and Sewall Street. Essex Street will be closed during the staging of the parade until it is finished.

For the fireworks, closures will begin at 7 p.m. Front Street is closed to all traffic and there will be no parking between Franklin Street and Fort Sewall Lane.
Franklin Street will be a one-way between Front Street and Washington Street.

Washington Street will be a one-way between Franklin Street to State Street.
After the fireworks, traffic leaving the beach lots will be allowed only a right or left turn at Ocean and Atlantic. Front Street will be closed to allow for pedestrian traffic.
State Street will be one-way from Front Street to Washington Street.
All traffic from State Street and Franklin Street, as well as Pond Street, will be directed along Mugford Street and Green Street to West Shore Drive. The MBTA will follow the snow route from 6 to 11 p.m.
For the Festival of the Arts from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Washington Street is closed between Darling Street and Rockaway Street. Hooper Street is closed between Tucker Street and Washington Street. Mason Street is closed between Tucker Street and Washington Street.
Residents whose properties abut Marblehead Harbor can put up their Illumination flares at the Marblehead Central Fire Headquarters. Proof of residency will be required.
