Marblehead Girls Lacrosse Advances to the Quarter Finals
The Marblehead girls lax has earned their fifth straight Northeastern Conference Large Division championship.
The game was delayed an hour due to thunder and lightning, but for the Marblehead girls lacrosse team it was well worth the wait.
The 6th seeded Headers (15-6) came away with a 10-9 victory over 11th seeded Arlington Catholic (15-4) in a Division 2 North first round game at Piper Field June 1.
The Arlington Cougars scored the first goal of the game but the Marblehead Magicians scored the last in a back and forth nail biter.

Junior Courtney Maag scored the game winning goal with only 41 seconds left on the clock, ensuring her teammates a trip to the quarter finals.
Marblehead's offense proved unstoppable with All Star Olivia Raisner contributing three goals and Clio Kammerer chipping in two. Sara Kalafa, Kylie Fischer, Maika Strogoff, Katie Corbett and Maag added one goal apiece.

Senior defender Micailah Adee, who was named MVP of the Northeastern Conference North, led the defensive play. Junior goalie Sarah Noyes came up big with 13 saves.
The Marblehead girls lacrosse team will play the winner of the first round game between 3rd seeded Weston (15-3) and 14th seeded Swampscott (7-7-1) The game to decide who Marblehead will play is tomorrow at 2 p.m.
The quarter final will take place on Saturday, either at Weston if Weston prevails, or at Marblehead if Swampscott takes the win.
