Marblehead Harbor Rotary presents 6 Paul Harris Recognitions

Marblehead, Mass. – Judith Black, Dr. Peter Cohen, Linda Doliber, Maestro Dirk Hillyer, Lauren McCormack and Dr. Patricia Sullivan were each recently presented with a distinguished Paul Harris Fellow recognition by The Rotary Club of Marblehead Harbor.

The club honored Maestro Dirk Hillyer, the founder and conductor of The Hillyer Festival Orchestra. For approximately 15 years, his talent has helped the club raise almost half a million dollars through the club's annual Holiday Pops Concert at Abbot Hall. The club has dedicated the proceeds from the Pops concert to philanthropic projects, non-profit organizations and local scholarships.

Also honored were Black, storyteller, actress and singer, for her work in pursuing and directing the club’s 2020 virtual Holiday Pops and for her dedication to Sustainable Marblehead and human rights initiatives; Cohen, Head of School at the Marblehead Community Charter Public School, for his leadership in education and his service in helping the club address food insecurity; Doliber for her service to the club and for securing funding to help address food insecurity; McCormack, Executive Director of The Marblehead Museum, for her contributions to the community and helping manage the club’s technology for the 2020 online Holiday Pops, and Sullivan, Club President, for her leadership and vision during Covid.

Named after the founder of Rotary International, The Paul Harris Fellow recognition represents a contribution of $1,000 given in the honoree’s name to the Rotary Foundation.

Since its founding more than 100 years ago, the Foundation has funded more than $4 billion in life-changing, sustainable projects in the United States and around the world. The Foundation helps Rotarians advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace by improving health, providing quality education, improving the environment, and alleviating poverty. For example, 60 cents can protect a child from polio and $50 can provide clean water to help fight waterborne illness.
