Marblehead High School Mourns Death Of Student-Athlete
Superintendent John Robidoux and the family shared the news of the senior three-sport athlete's passing on Friday.
MARBLEHEAD, MA — Counselors were set to be available at Marblehead High School throughout the weekend after the family of three-sport senior athlete Owen Coyne shared the tragic news of his death.
"This is a sad day for our Marblehead community, and we ask that you send positive thoughts and prayers to the Coyne family and Owen's friends during this difficult time," Superintendent John Robidoux said in a message to the community. "In the days and weeks to come, we will be providing counseling support in an ongoing way during the school day for students and staff who want to avail themselves of the opportunity.
"We will share further information with the community as appropriate."

Robidoux said that counselors were to be at the school on Friday until 7 p.m., and both weekend days from noon to 3 p.m.
A message from the Coyne family said: "There are simply no words for the loss of a child, a brother, a captain, a teammate, and a young man who is so deeply loved by so many."

"Owen brought so much joy, laughter, and light into the lives of those who knew him, and the impact he made will remain with us forever," the family said. "Owen was so very loved. He always will be.
"And he will be missed beyond words."
