Marblehead To Host Next Citizen Police Academy Starting In March

Academy attendees will learn about modern policing, traffic enforcement, law and procedure, and take part in K-9 demonstrations.

MARBLEHEAD, MA — Marblehead residents interested in learning more about the day-to-day activities and responsibilities of police officers — including laws and procedures, traffic enforcement and the evolution of modern policing — are invited to take part in the next Citizen Police Academy starting in March.

The Academy will begin on March 7 and run on Tuesdays until May 2. Sessions will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Council on Aging, along with several site visits.

There will be a welcome introduction from Chief Dennis King, visits to the Marblehead Police Station, Essex CountyHouse of Correction and Lynn District Courthouse, police K-9 demonstrations and a graduation ceremony.

Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served bases. All applicants must be at least 18 years old, will be expected to attend all sessions and must submit to a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check and driving history.
