Marblehead Little Theatre Recognized with Appreciation by The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem

Salem and Marblehead, Mass. — Marblehead Little Theatre was recognized by The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem at its annual Appreciation Reception on Sunday, November 19, with gratitude for MLT’s support of the Club’s drama program
For the past several years in May, the youth members in the Club’s drama program put on a play at MLT. In preparation, the students rehearse for many weeks at the club’s Collins Middle School location in Salem. Then, the week before the performances, the students and the drama program instructors begin the final round of rehearsals at MLT. In addition to the theatre itself, MLT provides the set, lights and sound.
“This is one of the programs we are most proud of and one that parents and our staff all attend,” BGCGS’s award statement said in part. “Our kids work hard to put on a good show and [MLT] helps us make sure everything goes right. We would not be able to run this program without the use of Marblehead Little Theatre.”

“Participating with the Boys & Girls Club has many rewards for Marblehead Little Theatre,” said Andrew Barnett, MLT’s technical director and facilities manager, who accepted the award on behalf of MLT. “We are re-inspired by the power of theatre as we see the kids come in on the first day filled with energy and excitement, work together, build their skills and confidence, and then present a play that delights their families, friends and all of us. We have the privilege of seeing their arc of achievement and growth. It’s very special.”
This BGCGS / MLT collaboration is made possible by a grant from The McCarthy Family Fund.
