Marblehead Police Deliver Dump Truck Full Of Candy For Troops
The candy drive donations will be shipped to armed services members through Operation Troop Support of Danvers.
MARBLEHEAD, MA — Thanks to the generous donations of Marblehead residents, the Marblehead Police Department was able to deliver a dump truck full of candy to the Danvers-based "Operation Troop Support" on Tuesday.
Marblehead police said officers began the morning shift helping to load the dump truck and that by the time they were done the entire bed of the truck was filled with candy boxes.
The candy was unloaded in Danvers where volunteers were waiting to package everything into bags for shipment to troops across the world. Police said the shipments are expected to sent out late this week and received overseas next week.

The candy drive is an annual Marblehead police effort to collect unwanted — or unnecessary — Halloween candy for two weeks after the holiday for delivery to the troops across the world.
"Thank you to everyone who has donated over the last couple of weeks — obviously this project would not have succeeded without you," Marblehead police said. "With that said, the boxes are all gone from the hobby so please don't bring in anything else — you are just going to have to eat it all yourself."
