MARBLEHEAD, MA — The following are excerpts from the Marblehead Police log on Tuesday, Jan. 9.
11:26 a.m. - Caller heard what he thought were gun shots to the west of his house near Tully Road. He initially heard four muffled shots then three more. Police found nothing and said no shots were heard.
3:17 p.m. - Caller said a sewer cap came off on the trail under the Village St. Bridge. The caller said the cap was on the trail by Gilbert and Cole.

4:26 p.m. - UPS driver had to "honk for a long to attempt to find the owners" of two vehicles parked in such a way he couldn't get by on Chestnut and Atlantic, said a caller. Police said everyone was legally parked and cars were able to get through.
8:47 p.m. - Caller said his wife was using his truck when she left the lights on and the car battery died on Amherst Road. He was looking leniency, but he is still subject to the overnight parking rule, police said.
