Marblehead Planning Olympic Celebration

The Marblehead Forever Committee will gather this afternoon at to discuss plans to honor the three area residents with ties to Marblehead who competed in the London Olympics - including gold-medal winner Kayla Harrison.

The meeting, scheduled to begin at 4:45 p.m. in the Selectmen's Meeting Room, is expected to feature a discussion regarding the "Celebration for Marblehead 2012 Olympic Athletes," according to the posted agenda.

Harrison, 22, became the first American, male or female, to win the gold medal in the sport of Judo of Great Britain to win the women's half-heavyweight competition.
