Marblehead Resident Helps Celebrate College-Bound Dorchester Students

On August 25, Marblehead resident William Darling was among those attending College Bound Dorchester’s third annual Matriculation Celebration.

Darling is the Treasurer of College Bound Dorchester’s Board of Directors.

The moving ceremony honored 54 young Dorchester residents who completed the nonprofit’s HiSET certification program and are now enrolled in a community college or four-year university.

The nonprofit’s goal is to make college graduation a norm for Dorchester youth, not the exception.

Governor Charlie Baker, Boston School Superintendent Tommy Chang and College Bound Dorcheste rCEO Mark Culliton addressed students, commending them on their milestone achievement. Two College Bound Dorchester graduates shared their stories about how the program has transformed their lives.
