Marblehead School of Ballet to Hold Community Appreciation Week

The Marblehead School of Ballet invites the public to join Community Appreciation Week's special activities from Nov. 29 to Dec. 2.

The Marblehead School of Ballet (MSB) celebrates Community Appreciation Week from Thursday, November 29 to Sunday, December 2. During this special week, the public is invited to come and try a dance class, watch a class, attend a post-movie reception, and more. Parents and guardians, who are considering dance training and opportunities for children and teenagers, are welcome to visit the school.

"For 47 years, the Marblehead School of Ballet has been a part of the community. During this holiday season, we thank the community for supporting us all these years. Throughout Community Appreciation Week, we welcome newcomers into the Marblehead School of Ballet family," said Paula K. Shiff, Director of MSB.

From November 29 to December 2 exclusively, the MSB provides these special offers to the public. Guests may come and watch a class at the studio, located at 115 Pleasant Street in Marblehead, Massachusetts. A new student may attend any class for only five dollars. Students currently enrolled in the school may bring a friend to class for the special rate of five dollars only during this week. Interested dancers or parents may arrange a complimentary consultation with Ms. Shiff to discuss their dance plans, interests, customized teaching and also learn more about the school's history, classes, and opportunities.

Purchase a movie theatre ticket and see the Royal Ballet perform choreographer Kenneth MacMillan's ballet, Mayerling, inspired by true events on Sunday, December 2 at 10:00 a.m. at Warwick Cinemas, located at 123 Pleasant Street in Marblehead. After the movie, come to the Marblehead School of Ballet's studio and attend a free reception and discuss the ballet.

What can ballet do for you? "Ballet helps keep your mind sharp, as you quickly memorize combinations and then move using them," said Judy Moynihan, a long-term adult ballet student at the school.

New students or guests must pre-register before attending a class. To register or for more information, call the school's office at 781-631-6262. For a class schedule, visit the school online.
