Marblehead Schools Ready For New Start: 'Excited, Energetic'

MARBLEHEAD, MA — School, believe it or not, is right around the corner.
In fact the first day for students in Grades 1-12 is Tuesday, Aug. 28. Kindergarten and pre-kindergarten classes begin Tuesday, Sept. 4. See a list of important school dates for Marblehead here.
The enrollment in the district is roughly 3,120 students, but Amanda Maniaci, business and finance director for Marblehead Public Schools, said the registrar is busily taking new student registrations.

Marblehead will have some continuity this year: The full central administrative staff and all building principals will be returning. Karen Grenier-Mernin, Village School assistant principal, will be a new face.

Along with Grenier-Mernin, the district welcomes 17 new teachers.

Maniaci pointed out some other areas the district is "excited and energetic to focus on."
- Science curriculum initiatives across the district, including an adoption of science kits for student and staff use in the classroom.
- Improvement and expansion of safety and security measures, and associated training and education for all students and staff.
- Continuing to promote social and emotional wellness for all of our students.
- Efforts in transparency, shared information, and communication with students, families and the community.
- Lastly, we continue to work with and facilitiate the Town Building Committee as they navigate our elementary school building project.
