Alex Dalton is a student at the Commonwealth School in Boston.

Marblehead, MA - Alex Dalton of Marblehead, a student at Commonwealth School in Boston, received an award as a delegate in the MIT Model United Nations Conference (MITMUNC) held on Feb. 5-7 in Boston. Participants in the conference are assigned ahead of time to represent a nation on one of several committees, each mirroring an actual United Nations committee or organization such as the International Atomic Energy Agency or the World Health Organization.

Dalton served on the Economic and Social Council representing Greece and received an Outstanding Delegate award.

Students prepare position papers before the conference and then negotiate resolutions during committee meetings with other delegates. The Historical Committee discusses and attempts to resolve the events around a historical issue; at this year’s conference it was the negotiations between barons and King James that led to the signing of the Magna Carta in 1215.
