Marblehead Students Honored At Colgate, MCPHS, Vermont

These Marblehead students were among those recently earning academic or athletic distinction.

MARBLEHEAD, MA — These Marblehead students were among those recently earning academic or athletic distinction at colleges and universities across the nation.

Lily Sansons is serving as a University of Vermont College of Nursing and Health Sciences peer mentor for the 2021-22 academic year. Known as "LINKS," mentors provide first-year students with friendship, guidance and a connection to the UVM community.

The following Marblehead students recently were initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines:

They are among approximately 25,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10 percent of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.

William Ehrenberg is among the 5,361 students who make up the University of Utah's Class of 2025 — the largest freshmen class in school history. Ehrenberg's major is listed as Pre Games BS.

Enrollment of first-time freshmen increased 19.6 percent from fall 2020 and is the first class of over 5,000 students at the U. Last fall, first-time freshmen increased 5.5 percent.

James Madison University welcomed the class of 2025 to campus this month. The incoming freshman class represents an accomplished, diverse group of individuals who hail from 35 states, the District of Columbia and 11 countries around the world.

William Liptrot is a graduate of Colgate University in the Class of 2021.

Liptrot, a graduate of Pingree School, majored in International Relations at Colgate.

Liptrot received a Bachelor of Arts degree at Colgate's 200th Commencement, which was held in person at Colgate's Andy Kerr Stadium on May 9.

Lehigh University welcomed the Class of 2025. The incoming class represents an accomplished, diverse group of students who represent 43 U.S. states and territories and 29 countries. Marblehead members of that class include Mercedes Clark and Emmet Janney.

Carter Segal recently matriculated as a first-year student at Hamilton College.

Segal, a graduate of Pingree School, was selected from a pool of 9,380 applicants to the college, and joins a class of 533.

St. Lawrence University enrolled more than 640 new students this fall, including 625 members of the Class of 2025 and 17 transfer students. St. Lawrence welcomes:

Brigette Gable is a member of the Class of 2025. Gable attended Phillips Exeter Academy.

Kate E. Hill is a member of the Class of 2025. Hill attended Pingree School.

Matthew Thompson is a member of the Class of 2025. Thompson attended Marblehead High School.

Though most teams were forced into an off-year for their 2020 seasons, several Pingree School athletes from Marblehead were able to compete and enjoyed success this past year.

The girls varsity cross country team brought home the Division 3 NEPSTA championship and after posting an undefeated season, the football team clinched the Evergreen League championship and Mark Conroy Bowl.

The varsity golf and girls soccer team won EIL titles, the dance team earned the Sportsmanship Award and the field hockey and boys soccer teams played well in NEPSAC playoff games.
