Marblehead Student's Poetry Featured in Fine Arts Magazine
The Marblehead High School freshman's poem will be in the spring 2015 issue of the magazine.

Editor’s Note: The spelling of Mr. Birnbach’s last name has been corrected below. Also, he is not a sophomore as originally reported.
A freshman at Marblehead High School has had one of his poems published in the most recent issue of The Marble Collection: Massachusetts High School Magazine of the Arts.
Ben Birnbach’s poem “First there was an Ocean” was selected for publication by a jury for its “artistic excellence” out of submissions from more than 200 schools and community’s across the state, according to a press release.

“I write poetry because it allows me a break from structured writing,” Birnbach said in a press release.
After being selected for publication, Birnbach attended a TMC writing workshop where he was paired with a college student mentor who worked with him to “refine his voice” and prepare his work for publication before ”real-world audiences.”

You can read Birnbach’s poem, as well as view other artistic works by Massachusetts students, in the new edition of The Marble Collection, which hits stands in May.
