Marblehead, Swampscott Set Hazardous Waste Collection Day

MARBLEHEAD, MA — Marblehead and Swampscott residents will have a chance to clear hazardous materials from their homes during a Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day set for Oct. 7 in Marblehead.

The event will run from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Marblehead Transfer Station, and is open to residents of both towns.

Residents are asked to use the entrance on Green Street Access Road. The event is for residents, and proof of residency is required.

Fees will apply based on the amount of material brought, according to the announcement. Payment will be accepted by credit card or check only.

The list of accepted items includes oil-based and latex paints, stains, varnishes and paint thinners, gasoline, kerosene and motor oil, antifreeze and automotive fluids, pool chemicals, pesticides, insecticides and weed killers, household cleaners and chemicals, fluorescent bulbs and propane tanks.

Residents are asked to keep materials in their original containers, securely tighten caps and lids, and never mix chemicals.
