Marblehead Theft Suspect May Have Hid in Store Before Closing

Marblehead, MA — A theft suspect may have hid in a Marblehead convenience store before it closed, police said.

The theft happened Tuesday night on Smith Street.

"Responding patrol officers discovered the store had been entered, items taken, and a display rack had been knocked over," Marblehead police said in a statement. "No damage was noted to the doors and officers and the store owner believe it’s possible the suspect may have hid in the store prior to closing."

A witness in the area reported seeing a man running from the building as the alarms sounded.
