Marblehead Town Administrator Named To Salem State Board Of Trustees

Thatcher Kezer is a Salem State alumnus who has worked in municipal government in Amesbury, Beverly and Marblehead.

SALEM, MA — Marblehead Town Administrator Thatcher Kezer has been selected to serve his alma mater as the newest member of the Salem State University Board of Trustees.

Gov. Maura Healey recently appointed Kezer, who has also served as the mayor of Amesbury and in municipal government in Beverly and was a lieutenant colonel with the Massachusetts Air National Guard.

He is a 1988 SSU graduate.

"I am pleased to be able to contribute to my alma mater by serving once again on the board," Kezer said. "I will always appreciate the fact that the education and experience I received attending as a student contributed directly to success in my professional career in local government and the military."

Kezer was a Salem State student trustee in 1986-87 and appointed by Gov. Mike Dukakis as student regent to the Massachusetts Board of Regents of Higher Education from 1987-1988.

He has also served as chief operating officer for the city of Framingham, senior vice president in Devens for MassDevelopment, mayor of Amesbury; director of purchasing and contract administration for the city of Beverly; and as an associate at the Edward J. Collins, Jr. Center for Public Management at the University of Massachusetts-Boston.

His military experience includes positions with the U.S. Air Force, including as a major, cell chief of the Crisis Action Team Communications Support Cell at Air Combat Command Headquarters,
Langley Air Force Base in Virginia during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
