Marblehead Welcomes 3 Graduating Firefighters

Three firefighters from Marblehead were among the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy class that graduated in Springfield last week.

MARBLEHEAD, MA — Three Marblehead firefighters were among the Massachusetts Firefighter Academy class that graduated in Springfield last week.

Jake Morris, Alex Elhert and Will Boardway completed the 10-week course involving firefighting and hazardous training materials. Morris, Elhert and Boardway were the first three Marblehead firefighters to graduate from the Springfield campus.

"First responders are on the frontlines protecting their communities, and these newest firefighters are needed now more than ever," said State Fire Marshal Peter J. Ostroskey. "The rigorous professional training they’ve received provides them with the physical, mental, and technical skills to perform their jobs effectively and safely."

The #S26 Class also included firefighters from East Longmeadow, Gardner, Northampton, Northbridge, Pittsfield, Springfield and Waltham. The Marblehead firefighters stayed at the Hadley station during their 10-week program, which included classroom instruction, physical fitness training, firefighter skills training, and live firefighting practice.
