Marblehead Winter Snow Parking Ban Policy Approved: Select Board
The approved policy bans on-street parking beginning at midnight of an anticipated storm in lieu of an across-the-board overnight ban.

MARBLEHEAD, MA — Marblehead residents will again be able to park on the street overnight this winter as long as they move those vehicles when it snows.
The Select Board approved what has become the annual practice of suspending the former all-night parking ban in favor of a snow emergency ban "as needed" based on storm forecasts.
During declared snow emergencies, on-street parking will be off-limits starting at midnight on the day of the anticipated storm. Parking will then be allowed starting at 7 a.m. pending a restriction from the police chief, fire chief, town administrator and head of the Department of Public Works for snow removal and safety purposes.

Overnight parking restrictions will continue for as long as the snow emergency is in place as large storms can require multiple days of plowing and cleanup.
Any vehicle that violates the parking ban will be subject to ticketing and towing at the owner's expense.
