Marblehead Youth Football Dominates In Openers
The Marblehead Youth Football program displayed talent and sportsmanship on the opening weekend of play, picking up impressive victories on both days.

8th Grade (Red) Defeats North Andover
Marblehead's 8th grade Red team won their opening game 18-0 over the North Andover Knights. A great effort on both sides of the ball for Marblehead was highlighted by a Brett Bial touchdown pass to Eli Smith, Cam Mitchell and Alex Simon each notching one rushing touchdown, and Josh Dicker collecting two interceptions
The Red squad travels to Danvers this Sunday to take on the Falcons at 9am.

8th Grade (Black) Travel to New Hampshire
Marblehead welcomed the Queen City Nightmare to the Cape Ann League with a 32–0 victory over the newcomers. Marblehead won the battles in the trenches, lead by linemen Romelo Matthews, Derek Dumais, Nate Maselek, Christian Rudloff, Gabe Boderick, Dan Marino and Tommy Gabel. Brooks Tyrell, benefitting from the quality play upfront, tallied three touchdowns on the afternoon, including a 35-yard burst on Marblehead's first play from scrimmage. Owen Rockett also made his way into the end zone for Marblehead, and Spencer Craig converted on multiple two-point conversion attempts.

The 8th Grade Black Squad takes on the Jets of Amesbury next Sunday at noon at Hopkins Field.
Whips Knock Off MASCO
Marblehead's defense, anchored by Jack Larkin, Seamus Keaney, Will Baum and Andy Clough, stifled the Masconomet attack in the first half, forcing consecutive three-and-out drives by the home team. Andy Clough started the scoring for Marblehead with a 47-yard rumble, breaking tackles and following a key block by lineman Charlie Ayer.
MASCO fought their way back to a tie game before Seamus Keaney and Jack Larkin has punt returns of 65 and 75 yards respectively, both for touchdowns.
Henry Mitrano, Jordy Mukania, Reid Rockwell, and Aidan Gillis stepped up defensively in the second half to secure the victory for Marblehead.
JVC Headers Topple Newburyport
The Marblehead JV-C Headers continued the strong day for Marblehead Youth Football with a 24-0 win on the road against Newburyport. Ben Murtagh played a pivotal role for the Headers, scoring two touchdowns in the first half and recording an interception in the win, while the hard-nosed defensive unit allowed just four first downs to Newburyport.
Luke Anderson and Ben McCarthy also scored for the Headers, and Jake Fitzgerald was on the receiving end of a long pass play that set up the teams final score.
Along with a strng defensive showing by the entire Headers team, Douglas Elston added a forced turnover by way of a recovered a fumble in the first half.
Big Plays Push JVC Mariners over MASCO
In a David vs. Golaith matchup in Topsfield, the Mariners topped MASCO 16-6 Saturday morning.
Mariners' running backs John Uhrich, Derek Marino, Korey Cohan and Justin Boes exploited the MASCO defense throughout the contest, picking up yardage in chunks and putting the finishing touches on multiple scoring drives. In addition to a 53 yard touchdown run by Marino, the stable of backs converted on several two-point conversion attempts.
Quarterback DJ Migliore managed the game, leading the Mariners in several sustained drives of over 40 yards.
Stew Hutchinson, Griff Kramer and Patrick Sweetnam anchored a Mariner offensive line that controlled the line of scrimmage all day and the Mariner defense, led by Van Sjoberg, Erik Groom, Tim Abernathy, Joe Dever and Joe Cronin, allowed bust one first down in the second half.
D-Whips Defeat Danvers 22-6
Quarterback Finn Keaney established Marblehead's offense early, marching the team 70 yards over 14 plays for a touchdown on the team's opening drive. Jake Miller successfully implemented the running scheme early on, bruising the Danvers defenders and narrowly missing a touchdown a big play up the middle.
Offensive linemen Robbie Segee Will Savage, Jack Curran, Paul Ruelbach, Malcom Barclay, Jaedon Evans and Connor Elliott refused to budge, clearing holes for the running game and protecting Keaney all game long. Tailback Ryan Harris tallied two touchdowns on the ground, including a 43-yard touchdown sprint.
Marblehead's defense executed well, forcing two fumbles, which were recovered by Chris Galley and Finn Keaney. In addition to the late touchdown, Danvers was able to record just 2 first downs.
D-Headers Defeat Danvers 22-0
Wes Rockett's 36-yard first-quarter touchdown run (his first of two), set the tone for the Headers against Danvers, and they never looked back.
The Headers defensive line of Sam Rockett, Sam Worster, Jack Brooks, Leo Fobert and Evan Kosar held their ground throughout the game, clogging and Danvers running attemps. Veteran backers Brendan Bugler and Jack McGrath, and rookies Sean McCarthy, TJ Zagarri , Loch Sheridan, Dylan Klocker and Billy Ackerman also contributed on the defensive side of the ball.
The D-Headers return to action Sunday, hosting Masconomet 3 in a 1:30 pm matchup at Gatchell's Field.
D1 Magicians Open Season Against Queen City
The 3rd and 4th grades comrising the D1 Magicians squad kicked off their season with an impressive showing on the road against the Queen City Nightmare on Sunday Sept. 12.
Eli Cohen scored three touchdowns in the game, highlighted by runs of 60 and 75 yards. Quarterback Nick Karns also scored on an impressive fourth down run in the red zone, and Lucas Perez completed a two-yard dive in the second half.
Defensively, the Magicians were led by Spencer Perkins who recorded five sacks and controlled both sides of the line, while defensive backs Hayden Rausch and Jack Quigley played stellar football.
The "Captain Crunch" awards for the game went to Jack Herman and Sammy Rausch for their fierce defensive play.
