Memorial Day Weekend Traffic: What to Know Before Hitting the Road
MassDOT is already opening lanes early and construction is halting as nearly 850,000 drivers are expected this weekend in Massachusetts.

Memorial Day is upon us, and according to AAA, there's going to be the second-most traffic volume of any Memorial Day on record.
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation has already opened the HOV Lane on I-93 South early at 1 p.m. Friday, as close to an expected 850,000 drivers travel in the Bay State, according to AAA. It is also suspending all construction work on major arterial roadways from noon Friday through the "start of normal business" on Tuesday.
