Missing Boater Located after Extensive Search

Excerpts from the Marblehead Police Department log.

Wednesday, May 28

At 10:33 a.m., a party reported being threatened by a friend’s husband. An officer mediated a conversation between the party’s who agreed to go their separate ways.

At 12:13 p.m., multiple calls came into the station about a Mercedes SUV ”doing laps” around the neck and speeding. An older gray pickup, “loaded with kids,” was reportedly racing the car. At 1:04 p.m., the driver of the Mercedes was stopped and issued a junior operator license citation as well as a warning for speeding. The parents of the operator were asked to contact police that night (they did) and the operator reportedly got his license the day before.

At 6:08 p.m., a small outdoor fire involving grass, trees and paint cans was reported on Richard Road.

At 8:42 p.m., a caller reported she had a staffer that left the marina in a 16-foot yellow sailboat and was about four hours overdue. Multiple towns became involved in the search along with the Coast Guard and harbormaster. Boats were deployed and his phone was pinged by AT&T. At 9:39 p.m., the party was located at Gashouse Beach. He told authorities he had come ashore about 10 minutes before.
