New Flood Watch Declared for Marblehead Area
Our "Five Things to Know Today" column provides essential daily information at a glance — including another round of heavy rain expected this evening and tonight.

1. Weather Watch: A chance of showers, mainly after 4 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 67. Light and variable wind becoming east 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. See below for more on heavy rains expected this evening into Tuesday.

2. Flood Watch: Marblehead is under a new flood watch through 8 p.m. Tuesday as heavy rains are expected after 7 p.m. The National Weather Service says flooding concerns are heightened by the fact that the ground is so soaked already.
3. School Committee Meets Tonight: The meeting is set for 7:30 p.m. in the library at the high school. The agenda calls for the board to head straight into an executive session to discuss strategy "in preparation for negotiations with superintendent candidate."

4. Memorial Service Held for Marathon Bombing Victim With North Shore Ties: On Sunday a memorial service was held for 8-year-old Martin Richard, the youngest victim of the Marathon Bombing. His father, Bill, is a graduate of Salem High School.
5. Girls Tennis Playoff Run Comes to a Close: Marblehead High School Girls Tennis made it to the MIAA North Division 2 semifinal, where they bowed to Winchester 5-0. Let's have a hand for the netters' fine season.
