New Marblehead Police Officer Joins the Force
Department welcomes hometown officer Shane Hogan.

Marblehead’s Shane Hogan successfully completed his police academy training on Tuesday and was welcomed to the Marblehead Police Department.
Hogan is a graduate of St. Anselm College and has a degree in Criminal Justice.
During his training that spanned more than five months, Hogan received education in the law, use of firearms, verbal communication skills, emergency vehicle operation, defensive tactics, physical fitness and a myriad of other vital information to help him complete his new responsibilities.

While the academy might be over, his training will continue for the next three months as he rides with veteran officers and learns how to apply what has been taught in the classrooms of the college and police academy to the real world, according to Marblehead police.
Upon successful completion of those three months, Hogan will begin to patrol the community on his own.

In addition to receiving his graduation certificate, Hogan was also the recipient of the Emergency Vehicle Operation Course award. During this week-long block of instruction, recruits are taught a wide range of defensive driving skills, and Hogan’s scores were the best in his class.
