Nicole Frevold Making a Racket in Badminton World

A Small Girl Making a Big Racket in the World of Badminton.

What Makes Nicole Awesome? Nicole Frevold may look like your ordinary seventh grader, texting away on her phone and chatting with friends, but in her chosen sport of badminton, she is a force to be reckoned with.

Nicole just recently won the Connecticut Open, an adult Badminton tournament held is Baltic, Connecticut. She has been playing badminton for the past five years and in that time, has played in high-level juniors tournaments in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maryland and California. 

Nicole participated in Junior International Trials, and was placed on the US Team, going on to represent the USA at a world tournament in the Dominican Republic.

In addition to her training five to six times a week with Marblehead Youth Badminton at the club in town, Nicole sings in the select chorus at Veteran’s middle school. The chorus has performed at the Christmas walk, as well as at local nursing homes. Nicole also volunteers her time at the Gut and Feathers, often running skills and drills with younger players. She has participated in Gut and Feathers family events, as well as Marblehead Youth Badminton fundraising efforts.

Frevold has recently completing a baby-sitting course at the and has a passion for animals. She hopes to study veterinary medicine, hopefully at a college with a badminton team. She credits her coaches for giving her the time and instruction to get this far in her sport.
