No Criminal Charges in Crash that Injured a Marblehead Woman
Chloe Rombach, 22, of Marblehead was struck by a vehicle while crossing a Northampton Street in December.

The Northwestern District Attorney’s Office will not file criminal charges in a car vs. pedestrian crash that left a 22-year-old Marblehead woman in a coma.
Chloe Rombach was struck while crossing Bridge Street at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 9, 2014. The driver in the crash remained on the scene and cooperated with investigators, the release continues.
“The investigation revealed no criminal negligence on the driver’s part, with weather and diminished visibility being contributing factors,” First Assistant District Attorney Steven E. Gagne said in the press release.

Salem News reports, however, that Rombach’s parents believe the district attorney’s decision “ignores important facts” surrounding the crash. In particular, Rombach was dragged for about 150 feet after the collision, which her parents said indicates the driver failed to stop immediately.
The DA’s office responded to Rombach’s parents, saying that the driver stopped “within seconds” and was among the first to call 911, according to Salem News.
