North Shore Medical Center Planning $170M Upgrade, Expansion to Salem Hospital
Salem Hospital is undertaking a $170 million upgrade and expansion.

Officials at The North Shore Medical Center announced Wednesday that they will be undertaking a $170 million upgrade and expansion to Salem Hospital.
“I am excited and encouraged that North Shore Medical Center is undertaking a project that will add jobs, expand healthcare services for our community, and improve and streamline the layout of the NSMC campus,” Salem Mayor Kimberley Driscoll said in a prepared statement Wednesday. “This $170 million investment in our City is one more way that Salem is growing and moving forward in a positive and progressive fashion."
Driscoll went on to say that she plans to work closely with NSMC, neighbors, and Highland Avenue businesses to "ensure that this project is undertaken cooperatively and takes neighborhood concerns into consideration."

"Key to that effort will be communication, transparency, and public input - all of which are necessary for such a major project. We had already begun a dialogue with MassDOT advocating for traffic improvements to Highland Avenue, also known as state-owned Route 107," Driscoll said.
