Marblehead Program To Talk How To Save Money Amid Soaring Energy Costs

MARBLEHEAD, MA — North Shore residents worried about soaring energy costs this winter can get a few tips on how to save some money at an upcoming program at the Unitarian Church.

Sustainable Marblehead and the church's Meetinghouse Series are hosting the event on Nov. 13 at 3 p.m. It will be conducted in person at the church at 28 Mugford Street and on Zoom here. The program is free to all.

Marblehead Light Commissioner Lisa Wolf and Mark Adams, Chair of Sustainable Marblehead's Green Homes and Buildings Working Group, will talk about things residents can take to conserve energy and prepare their homes for the winter — while also reducing the home's carbon emissions.

Sustainable Marblehead Board Member Lynn Bryant will moderate the program with time for questions at the end.

Wolf will describe how to reduce energy costs by shifting electricity use to off-peak hours. This is an immediate step you can take that involves no out-of-pocket costs and can significantly reduce energy costs while reducing carbon emissions.

Mark Adams will follow with a presentation on how home and property owners can reduce their energy bills and carbon output by upgrading their properties with improved weatherization, electrified heating and cooling, and rooftop solar. He will describe how to get started on these home upgrades as well as state and federal incentive programs that are now available to reduce installation costs.
