Opioid Overdose, Brawl, Microsoft Word Scam: Marblehead Police Log
Latest Marblehead police log: opioid overdose, "brawl" on Pleasant Street, and multiple "Microsoft Word" scams.

MARBLEHEAD, MA — The following are excerpts from the Marblehead police log. Suspects are presumed innocent.
Fri., Oct. 7
- 9:06 a.m. A woman said a car traveling above the speed limit near hit her and her children in the crosswalk on Maple Street.
- 1:15 p.m. Robert Road resident reported being the victim of a Medicare scam.
- 1:16 p.m. A Front Street resident said she was victim of a scammer claiming to be with "Microsoft Word."
- 3:27 p.m. A license plate was stolen from a truck on Orchard Street.
- 3:56 p.m. A "brawl" was reported on Pleasant Street; witnesses said one of those involved hopped in a black car and sped off.
- 9:08 p.m. Someone "vandalized" a car with silly string on Devereux Street.
- 11:51 p.m. A woman on Cornell Road said there was a "stream of drunk kids" stumbling on the road. She said she thought there was an underage drinking party going on at a nearby residence. A police officer responded and found no such evidence.

- 11:26 p.m. Harassment reported in Prospect Court.
- 12:02 p.m. A woman said she saw a female driver take a swig of alcohol while driving on Atlantic Avenue.
- 1:56 p.m. Another Microsoft Word scam was reported on Washington Street.
- 3:16 p.m. David Newton, 57, of Marblehead, was charged with driving after suspension (subsequent offense). Police said he also had a warrant out of Florida.
- 4:49 p.m. A man on Colgate Road said his neighbors were harassing contractors he hired to work on his home.
- 8:18 p.m. A Swampscott woman overdosed on opioids on Pond Street. She was "conscious and alert" as she was being transported to the hospital.
