Our Town by The Mugford Street Players at MLT in March

OUR TOWN, “The Greatest American Play” Returns to Marblehead, Opening March 2, 2018

Twelve performances planned, March 2 – March 18

Marblehead MA – 16 January 2018 – The Mugford Street Players announce an all-new production of OUR TOWN, Thornton Wilder’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play, coming to Marblehead Little Theatre, with a gala opening night performance on March 2nd. The show, produced by The Mugford Street Players, will play for three weeks, Fridays through Sundays until March 18th. Tickets are available at www.mltlive.com and Arnould Gallery in Marblehead.

OUR TOWN shatters theatre conventions, sharing its timeless story – of living, loving, and dying – with directness and intimacy that other plays rarely achieve. Presented in an empty theatre, the audience is constantly reminded that they are witnessing a play by their guide for the evening, the Stage Manager, played in this production by Salem’s Brian Casey. But magically, the stories of OUR TOWN, the denizens of Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire, become as tangible and real as life itself. Theatrical legend Edward Albee once described OUR TOWN as “the finest play ever written by an American.” Marblehead’s John Fogle directs this production.

"When choosing a play to follow our recent productions of A Picasso and Death of a Salesman," says director Fogle, "we knew we wanted a piece that could be a healing experience in the maelstrom of our current political and social discord. In OUR TOWN, playwright Wilder has cut through the clutter to reveal the essential and universal in human experience. It's pure joy to bring this play to our audience!"

OUR TOWN features twenty-one local actors ranging in age from eleven to seventy-five. Mr. Casey is joined by Marblehead residents Ron Amon, Charlie Brenneman, Martin and Sue Brother, Kirk Clingan, Janet Dauray, Michelle Gatta, Hazel Grenham, Harrison Larkins, Toby Faeskorn and Eleanor Mancusi-Ungaro; Salem’s Daniel Alvarado and Timothy Kenslea; Swampscott’s Jeremiah Poope and Trudi Olivetti; and Tina Barry of Billerica.

Supporting the production are costume designer Elivra Schoenthal, sound designer Thomas Saltsman and lighting designer Greg Mancusi-Ungaro. The production is produced by Mr. Mancusi-Ungaro, through special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.
