Overdue Boater Located by Coast Guard

Excerpts from the Marblehead Police Department log.

Friday, May 8

At 8:01 a.m., police received a call that a grandson was refusing to go to school and was calling his grandfather “inappropriate names.” The log notes that the boy did go to school.

At 9:28 a.m., a caller reported that a truck had dumped a load of dirt in the middle of Haley Road. Police found no issue with traffic and it appeared the dirt was for yard work.

At 10:16 p.m., police and EMS responded to a call that a man had fallen on the sidewalk and someone was trying to help him up.

At 2:22 p.m., a caller reported smoke in the area. It was found to be a smoldering mulch pile.

Saturday, May 9

At 2:15 p.m., a small fire in a mulch pile was reported.

At 3 p.m., police received a report that a man had gone out on the harbor in his canoe, but had not returned home by a specified time. The Coast Guard was contacted and the man was located after about 30 minutes near Children’s Island. He was conscious and breathing when located, but was transported to the hospital.

Sunday, May 10

At 1:22 p.m., an alarm sounded on Humphrey Street and surveillance footage shows two males get out of a dark sedan, approach the door and throw eggs. There was no damage done, but the eggs set off the alarm.
