Parent Reports Possible Catfishing Incident

Friday, June 1
- At 2:20 p.m., police received a report of a speeding car, a black Mercedes, at Smith Street and Atlantic Avenue.
- At 4:28 p.m., police received a report of a restraining order violation on Lafayette Street.
- At 10:44 p.m., a man reported seeing a swastika drawn on the ground while he was walking by Darling Street at Washington Street. The man said he would wash it away but wanted it noted that it happened.
Saturday, June 1
- At 02:08 a.m., police received a report of a domestic argument after a car stopped at Pickwick Road and Humphrey Street. It was a mother and son who were arguing.
- At 8:42 a.m., lost keys were reported on Florence Road.
- At 9:34 a.m., police received a call about a past hit and run on Calthrope Road.
- At 11:09 a.m., police received a call from Locust Street and Longfellow Road about a neighbor who was reportedly riding a scooter and yelling in the middle of the night.
- At 8:05 p.m., police received a call that someone fell down the stairs at a Lincoln Avenue residence. The person was to be transported to the hospital.
- At 11:06 p.m., a dispute involving three men was reported on Pleasant Street.

- At 7:56 a.m., a Baldwin Road caller said someone was cutting grass at 7:30 a.m. She said she thinks it was the town and did not know why they were cutting grass at 7:30 on a Sunday morning.
- At 5:11 p.m., police responded to a report of two kids fighitng. A red-headed kid stepped out of a Jeep on Pleasant Street and punched a kid who was on the sidewalk. The red-headed youth ran behind Anderson Street.
- At 7 p.m., police received a report of a motor vehicle crash at Lafayette Street and Carna Road.
- At 7:27 p.m., police received a call from a parent who suspected *catfishing. The caller reported that her 21-year-old son has been communicating with a girl via text. The parent is concerned whether this is a real person or someone just using a girl's information. The parent is suspicious because the girl has cancelled every meeting that the son has arranged.
*According to the urban dictionary catfishing involves online predators who fabricate identities and social circles to trick people into emotional/romantic relationships.
